Remarks by the President
During the past four years or so, our country has made great advances in the realization of strategic goals for national development. Under such background, the Investment Association of China (IAC) has made steady growth after it was reorganized in 2001. Over that period of four years, IAC has done tremendous amount of work in the areas of providing services to enterprises; making suggestions and recommendations to government agencies; carrying out training programs for management professionals for construction projects; actively establishing certification systems for management professionals in investment sector and in exploring ways and means for investment information release system. IAC has also strengthened its own capacity building.
At the enlarged session of the second council of directors, which was just concluded, I was reelected the President of IAC. I appreciate sincerely the trust, care and support that youhave kindly shown to me. The continuation to be in the post has given me a great delight, as it has made me possible to continue my services for entrepreneurs in investment sector, to be in the position of playing a role of bridge linking the government and enterprises and to contribute my part for economic development of our country. I also feel greatly strained as we are confronted with huge tasks and responsibilities. IAC has to gather efforts from all sides in order to make the association a home of investment enterprises and to make the association a base to turn out first rate management professionals in investment sector.
Here, a few key points need to be reemphasized for the future work.
1. To make the Association a Home of Investment Enterprises. We shall deliver attentive services to our members and fulfill our duties and responsibilities. It is our hope that all the members show their care for the home and often pay their home visits. Members are most welcome to visit us at any time when they have experiences to share, suggestions to make or difficulties to be solved. We shall do whatever we can to assist our members and make a full play of a role as a bridge.
2. Strictly observe rules of self-discipline in the sector. We shall take initiatives to implement national macroeconomic control policies and regulations, industrial policies, self-development policies, environmental protection policies and technology policies. Do not invest, do not construct and do not support the projects and products which are prohibited in explicit terms by the state, which are repeated at low levels and which seriously pollute environment and
damage ecological conditions.
3. Pay close attention to cultivation of people of talents. People of talents are pivotal in our construction; such is a matter of great importance for generations to come. It is impossible to realize the modernization of management systems for the construction projects without the availability of excellent teams of people in management. Therefore, it is imperative that IAC
shall continue to sustain all of its efforts in carrying out training programs for project managers and in establishing certification system for investment project managers so as to realize modernization of management systems for construction projects at an early date.
4. Further push forward the work of investment informationization. In addition to the utilization of IAC website for provision of information on investment, we shall make gradual progress in promotion of setting up Golden Investment projects to offer better services to release accurate and complete information in speedy fashion.
The work of IAC is meant for its members. We should adhere to the principle of putting members at the top priority. The success of IAC is dependant on the support and care of its members. It is our hope that our members will render their support and care for our work, supervise and check our performances.
